ABOUT

Dorcas is a Christian.

First and foremost she loves the Lord and lives by the motto of “I Surrender All”, which also happens to be her favorite song.

She was baptized at a young age by her dad in Lansing, Michigan. She has been a Christian for over 50 years.  With these 50 years, came ample opportunities for her to share God’s word and experience His blessings.  She is the wife to Robert  L. Curry Jr., the mother/bonus mom of 6 and two grandchildren

Dorcas is a teacher of the adult’s ladies class, and teaches with her husband, Robert Curry in Wednesday night Bible class, Marriage for a Lifetime, at Schrader Lane Church of Christ, in Nashville, TN, where she attends.  She has served as the assistant to the college ministry at Schrader for several years and in 2017-2018 Chaired of the Spiritual Development Committee within the Women’s Ministry at Schrader. In 2018 Dorcas lead the Ladies Day program at Schrader Lane Church of Christ, where, for the first time, several sisters dressed tables for lunch in various extravagant themes.

She has her own company “Gazelle Productions", and is writer, director and producer of her own acting group called “The NewBirth Players”.  She has written and published two books titles, “You Know They Say” a collection of old wives tales and "Even in the Dark I Surrender" sharing her journey through job loss, divorce and breast cancer.  Dorcas also has developed a motivational CD titled “Living Life to the Fullest”.  She is currently working on two ghost writing projects and a new stage play titled “The Moms Mabley Reboot”.

She writes and facilitates workshops ranging from career readiness, workplace team building, customer service and spiritual development and spiritual growth, to Ladies Day programs and retreats.

Dorcas is also Co-Founder to a women's empowerment group called Shades of Grace (see the Shades of Grace tab above).

Dorcas’ professional work experiences is in Human Resources and Career Management.  She worked under Metro Nashville Government until she was laid off on December 14, 2009.  This date is significant because 21 days later, without a job or insurance she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, and in her words, “my story now has a new chapter.”

Dorcas says,” I truly believe that all things work together for those who love the Lord, only if we surrender all, and recognize the peace that God has reserved for us, that surpasses all understands.”
